For Landlords who rent to mmp clients


Housing Opportunities Made Equal (HOME) operates the Making Moves Program (MMP), which helps Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) holders move to designated well-resourced areas in Erie and Niagara counties and provides comprehensive support to participating landlords and tenants.


Landlords who rent to MMP participants are eligible for a one time grant up to $5,000.

Program Benefits:

  • Grants for rental property improvements

  • HOME pays the security deposit

  • Assistance with PHA communication

  • Guaranteed rent paid with HCV

  • Tenant/ Landlord mediation

  • Avoid looking through hundreds of applications- we have a short list of participants looking for housing


Eligibility Requirements:

  • Rental property owner in opportunity area

  • Remain owner of property for 5-10 years after grant

  • Agree to lease to MMP tenants for up to 2 years

  • Keep rent affordable for MMP clients

Acceptable Repairs:

  • Weatherization- furnace, hot water heater repair/replace, windows, doors, roof patches

  • Energy-efficient appliances

  • Electrical/plumbing

  • Accessibility modifications

  • Installation of smoke & carbon monoxide detectors

  • Mold remediation

  • Exterior repairs- stairs, porch, railings

  • Installation of flooring and carpets

  • Painting
