Here is a bit of information about recent HOME hires

Jacob Kantor, Enforcement Specialist

What did you do before you came to HOME?

Before working at HOME, I worked as a Tutor/Coach at Buffalo Prep, and organization which works toward educational equity by providing free educational programming to scholars of color. 

What excites you about working for HOME?

I'm excited to be able to help HOME in achieving a less segregated WNY, so that we can all live in more diverse and inclusive communities.  

What hobbies or interests do you have outside of work?

In my free time I enjoy watching movies and reading books. 

Tameeka Harris, Housing Placement Specialist

What did you do before you came to HOME?

I did homeless outreach at Matt Urban. I linked individuals experiencing homelessness to a housing waitlist. I also provided resources and essentials for daily living and continuous engagement with them until clients are housed.

What excites you about working for HOME?

What excites me about working for HOME is the welcoming environment from everyone. I’m proud to work for a place making a difference. Even if it’s a small difference it’s big to those we serve. My experience at Matt Urban has helped me a lot with the services I’m providing now. HOME provides great service to those who can’t advocate for themselves and I’m proud to be a part of the team.

What hobbies or interests do you have outside of work?

One of my hobbies is karaoke. I enjoy singing and I’m actually pretty good at it. I enjoy watching movies and comedy shows. I love simple but fun activities with family and friends. I love my church family, and I absolutely love spending time with my children and grandchild.

Nathan Purvis, Investigations Coordinator

What did you do before you came to HOME?

Before I came to HOME I was working as an AmeriCorps for Habitat for Humanity Buffalo doing construction.

What excites you about working for HOME?

I’m excited to learn more about the housing industry and discrimination through the experience of those that face discrimination. I also am excited to be able to have a substantial and meaningful impact on the community even if it is a slower process.

What hobbies or interests do you have outside of work?

Outside of work I am either at home playing video games with my long distance friends or I am out in the community being involved or just engaging with the community.
