Susan M. Fayle,
Chair, is the CEO of Trinity Tower of Buffalo,
Inc, a senior citizen apartment complex. She is also a Realtor and a
certified Retirement Housing Professional. Ms. Fayle is on the board of
directors of The Lutheran Church Home and Greenfield Court, licensed adult
care facilities and on the board of trustees of the Lutheran Theological
Seminary at Philadelphia. She is treasurer of both the WNY Association of
Homes and Services for the Aging, and the Upstate NY Synod of the
Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. Ms. Fayle is also the
parliamentarian for the New York State Business and Professional Women’s
Clubs. She lives in North Buffalo. She chaired the Executive Committee.
Charles C. Thomas III AICP, President,
is the deputy director of planning for the City of Buffalo Office of
Strategic Planning and a certified planner from the American Institute of
Certified Planners. He is a member of the American Planners Association's
Western New York Chapter and a baritone voice in the Lutheran Chorale of
Western New York. He was the chair of the Annual Meeting Committee.
Janet Barnes,
Senior Vice President, is the assistant
principal of Buffalo Traditional High School, a member of the Erie County
LINKS, and the Great Lakes regional area coordinator of Alpha Kappa Alpha
Sorority. She has been an active member of the National Association of
Negro Business and Professional Women’s Clubs, Inc. since 1972 and is
currently president of the Buffalo Chapter. She is also a member of the
First Trinity Lutheran Church in Tonawanda where she is a choir member and
one of the musicians in “Quest,” the musicians for the alternative worship
service. She chaired HOME’s Personnel Committee.
Stephen
B. Karnath, Esq., Vice President, has spent 15
years working with not-for-profit and for-profit developers of affordable
housing as a housing and community development representative with the New
York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal. He spent the prior
11 years as the director of a neighborhood not-for-profit housing and
human service agency. Mr. Karnath is also chair of the Rental Assistance
Corporation of Buffalo’s Program Committee and was chair of HOME’s
Development Committee.
Samuel E. Loliger, Secretary,
is professor emeritus of Sociology at
Niagara County
Community College. He is the coalition coordinator for the Coalition of
Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender Concerns. He is also on the
Coalition for Halt Hate Talk Radio.
Michael D.
Riegel, Treasurer, is the vice president and
chief financial officer of Belmont Shelter Corporation. Mr. Riegel is the
committee member for Boy Scout Troupe 457, a board member for St. Pius
Holy Name Society and also serves on various Belmont-related affordable
housing organization boards.
Dr. Arthur Butler, Honorary President,
is retired after 40 years
of teaching economics at the University at
Buffalo. He is
a member of the Endowment Trust at the Unitarian Church in Amherst and
chaired HOME’s Joanne Champion Granger Scholarship Committee.
Grace
Andriette, Esq. is supervising attorney for the
housing unit of Neighborhood Legal Services, Inc. (NLS). Her current
practice includes housing discrimination work and landlord/tenant cases.
She is a contributor to “A Guide to Landlords’ Rights” and a member of
the Erie County Fair Housing Partnership. Ms. Andriette serves as
moderator for the HOME Players and, in her free time, is a landlord.
Catherine M.
Braniecki, is the vice president of
Community Development Banking for KeyBank. She has enjoyed a 27 year
career in the housing and community development field. She currently
chairs the Erie County Fair Housing Partnership, serves on the board of
the Rental Assistance Corporation of Buffalo and the housing committee of
Hispanics United of Buffalo. She is a member of Leadership Buffalo Class
of 2001 and president of D’Youville College’s Alumni Association.
Elizabeth G.
Clark, Esq., is a partner at
Hodgson, Russ LLP. She is also on the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra
Foundation and Planned Parenthood of Buffalo and Erie
County.
She has been involved with HOME for over 30 years. Ms. Clark a long time
choir member of the Unitarian
Universalist Church of Buffalo. She was chair of HOME’s Nominating
Committee.
Nora Pecken DeVoe
holds a position in Long Term Care
Resources at Coordinated Care Management Corp. and is a former fair
housing investigator.
Jean Doerr,
Esq. is an Administrative Law Judge with the
Public Employment Relations Board and a member of the Women’s Bar
Association of Western New York, the New York State Bar Association and
the Industrial Research Association for Western New York. She was the
chair of HOME’s Membership Committee.
Lance A.
Fertig is a history and government teacher at
Buffalo’s Seneca Comprehensive High School and serves as its youth court
advisor. Before moving back to the Buffalo area, he was a domestic
relations fact finder and mediator for the Shiawassee County Court in
Michigan and served on State and County substance abuse boards. Mr.
Fertig, a New York State licensed wildlife rehabilitator, is a board
member of the Enchanted Forest Wildlife Sanctuary, Inc. of Alden. He is
also an active member of the Buffalo branch of the NAACP.
Herbert Grimes
is a recent retiree from Dupont, where he worked for 23 years. Mr. Grimes
returned to the Board in 2002 after serving as a board member in the past.
Reverend
Theodore Hamilton is the pastor of the Mt. Zion
Church of God Holiness and evangelist for the Northeastern District of the
National Convention of the Churches of God Holiness.
Gilbert R.
Hernandez is a labor service representative for
the New York State Department of Labor. He also serves on the board of
the Shalom Zone and the Erie County Human Services Advisory Council and is
the treasurer at St. Paul’s Cathedral.
Eunice D.
Jackson is a retired Buffalo educator and former
principal. She is a lifetime member of the NAACP, a member of the Erie
County Chapter of Links Inc., the Canisius College Scholarship Associates,
and serves on the board of LEWAC Associates of WNY, Inc. She was a past
recipient of the MLK Outstanding Award for Education from Alpha Kappa
Alpha Sorority and was the first African-American president of the Phi
Delta Kappa Fraternity.
Reverend James
F. Joyce is the administrator of St. Ann’s
Parish. He is a member of Voice Buffalo, and on the board of Delta
Development that deals with low income, disabled, and senior citizen
housing. He has been a priest for 28 years and has worked in all kinds of
places including: Jersey City, Brooklyn, South Bronx, Belfast, West Africa
and Ireland.
Marcie Kelly
is the director of the Mental Health Peer Connection of the WNY
Independent Living Center, the co-chair of the Erie County Anti-Stigma
Task Force and serves on the boards of the Restoration Society, Strive for
Women, Mental Health Empowerment, and Spectrum Human Services.
H. Christine
Kregg is a co-founder and president of the
Minority Health Coalition and 2002 recipient of the Mildred Francis
Lockwood Lacey Award for Excellence in Civic Responsibility in the City of
Buffalo. She is also a member of the Lupus/Toxic Waste Coalition and a
volunteer for the Lupus Alliance of America.
Janet
Meiselman is a principal at Housing Unlimited, a
member of the Erie County Fair Housing Partnership, and a Board member of
Gerard Place. She chaired the Program, Operations and Planning
Committee.
Barbara I.
Mervine is a program officer at Local
Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) and was active in affordable
housing and fair housing programs in Cleveland, Ohio, Utica, New York; and
Burlington, Vermont.
Leah R. Mervine,
spent ten years
volunteering and working for
AIDS-related causes. In the summer of 2002, she resigned her position from
the board and as chair of the Membership Committee to become HOME’s first
coordinator of development and member relations.
William J. Minniefield
is the founder and program director of the Minority Organ Donation
Education Program and a member of the Minority Health Coalition of Western
New York.
Arthur L.
Taggart is the CEO and president of Taggart
Enterprises. He is a former New York State Police Officer, a member of
the International Association of the Chiefs of Police, and the founder and
parliamentarian for the local chapter of the Buffalo/Niagara Frontier
National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE). He is
also a board member of the Niagara Council of Alcohol & Substance Abuse,
and an active member of the Mt. Zion Church of God Holiness.
Alois G.
Williams is a retired Buffalo Police Officer;
having served for 31 years. He is a tutor for Literacy Volunteers of WNY
and part of the Radio Reading Network for the Visually Impaired.
Amy M.
Zeckhauser is chair of gold circle committee of
the United Jewish Federation and past chair of the Residential Division of
United Way and the Women’s Division of the United Jewish Fund. She has
been a member of Temple Beth Zion for 56 years, where she has served as a
trustee.
Scott W. Gehl,
Executive Director, is an ex-officio
member of the HOME board. He is also president of the board of directors
of Kensington-Bailey Neighborhood Housing Services and serves on the
Community and Economic Development Council of HSBC Bank. |
