Housing Opportunities Made Equal has served its mission for forty years in
large part due to the financial and volunteer support of our membership.
The strong support HOME receives from dues-paying members is evidence of a
desire to live in a community free of housing discrimination. For
those that share this belief, there is another way to support HOME's
mission: by "leaving a legacy" to HOME that will promote equal opportunity
in housing as HOME begins its next forty years of service.
Proudly, members of HOME can count themselves among the vast numbers of
people that provide badly needed financial support to non-profit
organizations and charities. But did you know that only about five
percent of people remember organizations like HOME when planning how their
estate will be distributed? Estate planning professionals believe one
reason is that people don’t realize just how easy it is to include your
favorite non-profit in your will or estate plan.
To
raise awareness of fair housing supporters of the opportunity to remember
HOME with a legacy gift, HOME is a member of LEAVE A LEGACY™ Western New
York. LEAVE A LEGACY™ is a community-wide effort among non-profit
organizations, estate and financial planning professionals, and the media
to promote gifts to charities through will and estate plans.
If
you choose, your legacy to HOME can be designated for the John Howland
Koekkoek Endowment for Fair Housing Education where it will be used to
support HOME's programs (such as the HOME PLAYERS) and publications
(such as Insight) that raise the public's awareness and
understanding of issues that impact everyone's right to
live in a community free
from discrimination.
